Kids Reenact 'Sabotage' to Honor the Memory of the Late MCA
I wish I were a cool filmmaker dad...
Kids Reenact 'Sabotage' to Honor the Memory of the Late MCA: Portland-based filmmaker and Dad of the Year shortlister James Winters played next-level Cops and Robbers with his kids and nephew last week while putting together this stellar reenactment of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" to pay tribute to Adam "MCA" Yauch, who passed away May 4th at age 47.

They Might Be Giants - Albany (The Egg)
The sheer ridiculousness of this building makes us smile; now I'm glad there's a song to go along with it.
Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know' Roars to No. 1 on Hot 100 | BillBoard.com
Following "We Are Young", "Somebody That I Used To Know" makes two thoroughly unexpected (and thoroughly good) #1 songs in a row! Is this a glimmer of hope for pop music?

Taking in a concert doubleheader with Creed and Nickelback, the world's most hated bands - Grantland
I don't particularly like Creed and Nickelback, but I don't really understand all the hate, either...
Taking in a concert doubleheader with Creed and Nickelback, the world's most hated bands - Grantland: But this is what I wanted to do: I wanted to see Creed at New York's intimate Beacon Theatre (performing their 1997 album My Own Prison in its entirety), followed by Nickelback in front of 18,000 people at Madison Square Garden.

Skrillex Gets Deep on the Cusp of the Grammys - Page 1 - Music - New York - Village Voice
Violet would pick either Skrillex or Nicki Minaj...
Skrillex Gets Deep on the Cusp of the Grammys - Page 1 - Music - New York - Village Voice: The list of nominees in this year's Best New Artist category makes the point about music's sprawl well: There's the lite country-pop of the sibling act the Band Perry; the syllable-splitting hyper-color antics of Nicki Minaj; the tenacious St. John's–bred hip-hop of J. Cole; and the feelings-swaddled exercise in 21st-century tastefulness Bon Iver. And then there's Skrillex, the business name of a 24-year-old named Sonny Moore, a dance producer who is one of this year's most nominated artists.

Car Commercialism: The Making of OK Go's "Needing/Getting" Music Video - Car and Driver
Car Commercialism: The Making of OK Go's "Needing/Getting" Music Video - Car and Driver: Damian Kulash Jr. sits in one of the editing suites of a media-production house in downtown San Francisco, watching clips on a computer screen of a silver Chevy Sonic doing hand-brake turns in a dust cloud. The car is festooned with what looks like forks, hockey sticks, TV antennas, railroad horns, shark spears, and a couple of dead Persian cats, which are in fact large microphones fitted with furry windsocks. Inside the car, three guys plus Kulash—each in a driving suit and matching helmet of a different lollipop color—pull levers, finger small pneumatic keyboards called melodicas, and mouth the words to a song called “Needing/Getting.”

Exclusive: This Is The New 'They Might Be Giants' Music Video
Catchy in a very TMBG way...
Exclusive: This Is The New 'They Might Be Giants' Music Video: The music video tracks the unbelievably short life of an 18' paper and wood replica of the day-glo pink monster hearse that graces the cover of They Might Be Giants' new album Join Us.

How an obscure 80s punk band created a Christmas classic
"Bah, humbug!" No, that's too strong, 'cause it is my favorite holiday...
How an obscure 80s punk band created a Christmas classic: Struggling post-punk band the Waitresses dragged themselves off the road and into a Manhattan studio to record - of all things - a Christmas song on a hot August day in 1981. Little did they know they were about to create a classic - a song that would well outlive the band, the 80s and, sadly, the frontwoman who sang it.

Game over.
